Tuesday Sanitation Reset: Change the Barbicide Jar Before Midweek
By Tuesday, the Barbicide jar has seen a long weekend and a Monday. If the blue looks cloudy, or there is hair floating at the bottom, it is not doing its job. Take fifteen minutes before the midweek push and reset the whole sanitation station.

1. Empty and wash the jar
Do not top off old solution. Pour it out, wash the jar and the basket with soap and water, rinse, and let it dry. A clean jar is what clients see from the chair.
2. Mix fresh Barbicide
Refill with Barbicide Concentrate, mixed exactly the way the label says. Follow the label for contact time and how often to change it, and dump it sooner if it turns cloudy. Keep Barbicide Hospital Grade on hand as a backup so you never run dry mid-week.
3. Spray the clippers, dip the blades
Clippers do not go in the jar. Brush them off and hit the blades with Clippercide Spray. For detachable blades, an Andis Blade Care Plus 7-in-1 Jar lets you dip, clean, and cool in one step.
4. Gloves where you can grab them
Put a fresh box of Black Gloves on the station. Change them between clients and before cleanup.
5. Tuesday reset checklist
- Jar emptied, washed, dried
- Fresh Barbicide mixed to label
- Combs and shears fully under the solution
- Clipper blades sprayed
- Gloves on the station
- Counter wiped, trash emptied

FAQ
How often should I change the Barbicide jar?
Follow the directions on the Barbicide label for the mix and change schedule. Dump it sooner any time the solution looks cloudy or has hair or debris in it.
Can I just top off the old solution?
No. Topping off dilutes the mix and keeps the old debris in the jar. Empty, wash, dry, and mix fresh.
Do clippers go in the jar?
No. Clippers are not dipped in the jar. Brush them off and use a clipper spray like Clippercide on the blades instead.
When should I change gloves?
Between clients and any time you switch from wet or chemical work to cleanup. Fresh gloves keep the station professional.
