Wednesday Comb & Brush Tray Reset: The Tools Clients See Up Close

By Wednesday, blades and sanitation get the attention. The comb and brush tray often does not. Those are the tools sitting inches from a client's face. Take ten minutes midweek and reset the tray so every chair looks sharp.

LEAD Barber & Salon Supply is Black-owned. For us, by us. Shop at LEADBLACKS.COM. No invented prices here. Check current price on each product page.

1. Pull cracked or sticky combs

Flip every comb. If a tooth is chipped, warped, or still sticky after cleaning, retire it. Keep a working set of Black Ice Carbon Barber Combs and a dedicated Black Ice Flat-Top Clipper Comb for fades and flat-tops so you are not hunting mid-cut.

2. Disinfect and dry before they go back

Combs go fully under fresh Barbicide, then rinse and dry. Wipe the tray itself with Barbicide Ship-Shape Spray so hair and product film are gone before you lay tools back down.

3. Brush station: powder and club

A Black Ice Gold Powder Brush keeps necks clean at the end of the cut. A Magic Collection Soft Club Brush handles bulk hair off the cape. Wipe both between clients and keep them in a clear spot on the tray.

4. Towels within reach

Stack fresh white towels next to the tray so you are not walking across the shop mid-service.

Why Wednesday?

Monday is catch-up. Tuesday is sanitation. Wednesday is when the midweek rush hits and worn tools show. A clean tray keeps the chair looking premium without slowing the line.

5. Wednesday tray checklist

  • Cracked or sticky combs out
  • Carbon and flat-top combs disinfected and dry
  • Powder brush and club brush wiped and ready
  • Tray wiped with Ship-Shape
  • Towels stacked

FAQ

How often should I replace barber combs?

When teeth chip, warp, or stay sticky after cleaning, replace them. A cracked comb can snag hair and look unprofessional in the chair.

Do carbon combs go in Barbicide?

Yes. Fully submerge combs in fresh Barbicide per the label, then rinse and dry before they go back on the tray.

What is a powder brush for?

A powder brush dusts the neck and hairline after the cut so the client leaves clean. Keep one dedicated brush and wipe it between clients.

Can I share one comb all day?

Best practice is enough clean combs ready so you are not rushing a half-cleaned tool between chairs.
