Friday Curl Refresh: Bring Day-3 Curls Back to Life for the Weekend
It is Friday, your wash day was a few days ago, and your curls look a little flat, a little frizzy, and nothing like Sunday night. You do not need a full wash before the weekend. A good refresh takes about ten minutes and brings shape and softness back.

1. Start with light water
Use a spray bottle and mist section by section until hair is damp, not soaked. Water is what wakes the curl pattern back up.
2. Add a refresher
Spritz a refresher over the dry or frizzy spots and gently smooth it through with your fingers. A few to try: Camille Rose Honey Dew Refresher, Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Refresher Spray, or Design Essentials Coconut & Monoi Curl Refresher. Start small. You can add more, but too much leaves hair heavy.
3. Re-define only where you need it
If a few curls fell apart, rake a small amount of a defining product like Camille Rose Curl Maker Curl Defining Jelly through just those pieces and twist or finger-coil them back into shape.
4. Scrunch and let it be
Scrunch upward to encourage the curl, then keep your hands off while it dries. Touching damp curls is the fastest way to frizz. Air dry or use a diffuser on low heat.
5. Protect it tonight
Satin bonnet or satin pillowcase, and loosely gather hair on top of your head. That way Saturday morning only needs a quick mist.
When to stop refreshing
If hair feels coated, stiff, or your scalp is itchy, product has built up and it is time for wash day.

FAQ
How often can I refresh curls between wash days?
As often as your hair needs it. Most people refresh in the morning on day two or later. If hair starts feeling coated or stiff, that is a sign it is time for wash day.
Water or a refresher spray?
Water alone wakes curls up. A refresher spray adds slip and moisture along with it. Many people mist with water first, then a refresher on the dry spots.
Why do my curls get frizzy when I refresh?
Rubbing, too much product, or touching hair while it dries all add frizz. Scrunch gently, use a small amount, and let it dry before you touch it.
How do I protect curls overnight?
Sleep on satin or in a bonnet, and loosely gather hair on top of your head so curls are not crushed.
