Five Weeks Out: Plan a Black-Owned Small Business Saturday Now

The holidays are coming whether we plan for them or not. Small Business Saturday falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which this year is November 28. That is about five weeks away. If we plan now, we can make that day, and the whole holiday season, count for Black-owned businesses in our own neighborhoods.

LEAD Barber & Salon Supply is Black-owned. For us, by us. Shop at LEADBLACKS.COM. No invented prices here. Check current price on each product page.

Why plan five weeks early

Most holiday money gets spent fast, and a lot of it goes to whoever shows up first with a deal. When you decide ahead of time where your money is going, you shop with purpose instead of on impulse. That is how dollars land with the businesses that hire our people and keep our blocks open.

Step 1: Make your list

Write down the Black-owned businesses you already use and the ones you have been meaning to try: your barber, your stylist, the restaurant down the street, the bookstore, the clothing brand, the beauty supply. Ask friends and family to add to it. Share it.

Step 2: Set a budget

Pick a number that works for your household, big or small, and decide how much of it goes to Black-owned businesses. A plan you can stick to beats a promise you cannot keep.

Step 3: Plan gifts around the list

Think about who is on your gift list and match them to a business. Hair care for your sister, grooming products for your brother, a fresh cut or a salon visit for someone who has been working hard. Gifts that come from our own businesses carry more meaning.

Step 4: Book your services early

Barbers and stylists get packed around the holidays. Book your appointments now so you are not scrambling, and so your barber or stylist can plan their own busy season.

Step 5: Support beyond spending

Not everybody has extra money this time of year, and that is okay. Leave a review, share their posts, tell a friend, and show up. Those things help a small business grow too.

Shop owners: get ready now

If you own a shop, salon, or small brand, start planning your Small Business Saturday now. Get your supplies ready before the rush, let your regulars know what you have going on, and make it easy for people to find you online. When you reorder supplies, check Barber Station Essentials and Hair Care.
