Friday Hair Bag: How to Pack Your Hair Routine for a Weekend Trip

Friday hits, the bags are by the door, and you are heading out of town for a wedding, a game, or just a weekend away. Your clothes are packed. But what about your hair? A few small things in the right bag can keep your hair moisturized and your style looking good until you get home.

LEAD Barber & Salon Supply is Black-owned. For us, by us. Shop at LEADBLACKS.COM. No invented prices here. Check current price on each product page.

Start with your normal routine

A trip is not the time to test something new. Pack the products you already know your hair likes. If you would not use it at home on a Tuesday, leave it.

Flying? Check the carry-on rules

The TSA lets you bring travel-size liquids, gels, and creams in your carry-on, packed together in one small bag, and full-size bottles go in your checked bag. Rules can change, so check the TSA liquids rule before you head to the airport. Pour bigger bottles into small travel containers, and close lids tight with a little tape so nothing leaks on your clothes.

Refresh, do not restart

For a short trip, most people do not need a full wash day. In the morning, lightly mist with leave-in, smooth your edges, and seal your ends. At night, pineapple or twist your hair loosely and put your bonnet on. Hotel air can be dry, so do not skip that step.

Traveling with kids?

Put their products in their own small bag so mornings move faster, and pack an extra bonnet or scarf in case one gets lost.

FAQ

What hair products should I pack for a weekend trip?

Keep it simple: a leave-in, something to seal like an oil, your edge product, a brush or comb, and a bonnet or scarf for sleeping. Bring only what you use in your normal routine.

Can I bring hair products in my carry-on?

The TSA allows travel-size liquids, gels, and creams in your carry-on within its size limits, packed in one small bag. Larger bottles go in checked bags. Check TSA's current rules before you fly.

How do I keep my hair moisturized while traveling?

Spritz a little leave-in in the morning, seal your ends with a small amount of oil, and cover your hair at night. Hotel air can be dry, so do not skip the bonnet.

Should I wash my hair on a short trip?

For a weekend, most people do not need a full wash day. Refresh with leave-in and protect your style at night, then wash when you get home.
